Heather Bauer is an American Democratic politician serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives for District 75. She took office on November 14, 2022, after defeating Republican Kirkman Finlay III, who had held the seat since 2012. Bauer previously ran for a Columbia City Council At-Large seat. Her 2022 win came despite Finlay raising more money, with public concern about women’s reproductive rights noted as a factor. She serves on the House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committee.

In 2024, Finlay won the Republican primary and challenged Bauer again, but Bauer won the general election. She attended the 2024 Democratic National Convention as a delegate for South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District. Bauer was ranked 14th on the Post and Courier’s 2025 Power List for Columbia. She married Michael Tyus on June 7, 2025. Bauer studied at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of South Carolina.
