Hayyim ben Jacob Alfandari
Hayyim ben Jacob Alfandari (1588–1640) was a Jewish teacher and writer who studied and explained the Talmud. He taught in Constantinople (now Istanbul) in 1618 and was a student of Aaron ben Joseph Sason. Some of his rabbinic responsa (legal answers) were printed in the book Maggid me-Reshit in 1710, which also includes responsa by his son Isaac Raphael and was edited by his grandson Hayyim ben Isaac Raphael. His other Talmudic writings, including commentaries on several tractates, survive as manuscripts.
