Hathaway Pines is an unincorporated community in Calaveras County, California, about 5 miles south of Arnold and 12.5 miles northeast of Angels Camp. It sits at an elevation of 3,323 feet (1,013 meters). The post office opened in 1943, and the ZIP code is 95233. The town was named after Robert B. Hathaway, a vacation resort promoter who became the first postmaster. The area has warm, dry summers, with no average monthly temperature higher than 71.6°F, and its climate is classified as warm-summer Mediterranean (Csb). In 2023, the U.S. Census Bureau defined Hathaway Pines as a census-designated place.
