Harrington Regio is the largest dark, equatorial region on Pluto and the biggest part of the Brass Knuckles. It lies along Pluto’s equator in the middle of the leading hemisphere, about 6.6°N, 309.6°E. It is the largest dark equatorial feature on Pluto after Belton Regio. It was first nicknamed Balrog Macula, but the International Astronomical Union officially named it Harrington Regio in honor of American astronomer Robert Sutton Harrington, who helped co-discover Charon.
