Gulf Trace is known for its green design. It was Florida’s first LEED-certified school, earning LEED Silver in May 2008 after a $13 million building project. It was also the first building in Pasco County and in the Tampa Bay area to earn Energy Star certification.

The school colors are blue and gold, and the mascot is the Sea Star. Gulf Trace feeds into Paul R. Smith Middle School.

Awards: In 2011, the Florida Department of Education named Gulf Trace a Five Star School for the fourth year in a row, recognizing strong business partnerships, family involvement, volunteers, student community service, and active School Advisory Councils. The school also won the Golden School Award for 2010–2011. To earn this award, a high percentage of staff must be trained in volunteerism, there must be a designated School Volunteer Coordinator, and volunteer hours must meet a required level.
