Greater Memphis Chamber is a Memphis, Tennessee group that helps local businesses grow. It helps companies understand the benefits of doing business in Memphis, offers educational programs, and promotes business-to-business connections. Its mission is to “help Memphis grow.” The chamber works with city, state, and federal governments to benefit its members.

It was founded in March 1838 by Col. Nathaniel Anderson and Louis Trezevant as a chamber of commerce when Memphis was new.

In late 2022, Ted Townsend became President & CEO, after serving as director of economic development. He took over from Beverly Robertson, who stepped down in 2022. Robertson had previously succeeded Philip Trenary, the CEO of Pinnacle Airlines, who was killed in Memphis in 2018.

One of the chamber’s major accomplishments is the Blue Oval City deal with Ford. This $5.6 billion project was expected to create about 5,800 jobs in the Memphis area.
