1983 Virginia Slims of Pennsylvania, also known as the Ginny of Central Pennsylvania, was the first edition of this women’s tennis tournament. It took place February 14–20, 1983, at the Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on indoor carpet courts. The event was part of the Ginny Tournament Circuit in the 1983 Virginia Slims World Championship Series, with prize money of $50,000. In singles, Carling Bassett won, defeating Sandy Collins 2–6, 6–0, 6–4. In doubles, Lea Antonoplis and Barbara Jordan defeated Sherry Acker and Ann Henricksson 6–3, 6–4.
