The 2023 Grand Chess Tour was the eighth edition of the series. It featured five tournaments with a total prize pool of $1.4 million, including two classical events and three rapid & blitz events. The rapid events used a two-part scoring system: rapid (2 points for a win, 1 for a draw) and blitz (1 point for a win, 0.5 for a draw); the combined score from both parts determined the overall standings. Nine players competed, including Ding Liren, Ian Nepomniachtchi, and defending champion Alireza Firouzja. Wildcards did not count toward the overall standings. The events were held in Bucharest, Warsaw, Zagreb and St. Louis, from May 4 to December 3, 2023. St. Louis events were scheduled in November–December to avoid conflicts with the World Cup and the FIDE Grand Swiss.
