Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania
Gouldsboro is a small village and census-designated place in northeastern Pennsylvania. Most of it is in Lehigh Township, Wayne County, with a small part in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County. The area covers about 3.0 square miles, of which roughly 2.6 square miles is land and 0.4 square miles is water, and it sits about 1,909 feet above sea level. The population was 750 in 2020.
The community is named after Jay Gould, who built a tannery there before becoming a famous financier. Gouldsboro is home to Gouldsboro State Park and to the old Lackawanna Railroad station, which has been restored and now houses a railroad museum with excursion trains from Scranton’s Steamtown site. The village is mainly served by the North Pocono School District, with a small portion in Coolbaugh Township falling under the Pocono Mountain School District.
