Mhluzi
Mhluzi is a township just west of Middelburg in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It covers about 10.3 square kilometers and sits roughly 1,490 meters above sea level. In 2011, about 76,500 people lived there, most of them Black African. The community mainly speaks Zulu (about 43%), with Northern Ndebele (18%), Northern Sotho (17%), Swazi (7%), and other languages.
Mhluzi has eight primary schools and six secondary schools. The street postal code is 1050 and the PO box code is 1055. The area uses South Africa’s time zone (UTC+2).
History: In 1994, the Middelburg Town Council, Mhluzi Town Council, and management committees for Eastdene (Indian area) and Nasaret (Coloured area) joined to form the Transitional Local Council for Middelburg. Middelburg was the first town in Mpumalanga to amalgamate under the Local Government Transition Act, with the proclamation published on 16 November 1994.
