Golden 1 Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative based in Sacramento, California. It began in 1933 as California State Employees Credit Union #1 and was renamed Golden 1 in 1977. Serving all of California, it operates more than 70 branches and runs a large network of CO-OP ATMs with over 30,000 machines nationwide. By 2022, Golden 1 had about 1.1 million members, roughly 2,100 employees, and around $18.5 billion in assets. The credit union offers checking and savings accounts, consumer and mortgage loans, credit cards, online banking, investments, and insurance. Donna A. Bland is the President and CEO. In 2015, Golden 1 purchased the naming rights to a downtown Sacramento arena for $120 million over 20 years, one of the largest naming-rights deals for a single-tenant NBA arena and the first time a credit union carried a major sports venue name.
