Godvakker-Maren
Godvakker-Maren is a 1940 Norwegian comedy film directed by Knut Hergel, who also co-wrote the story with Alf Sommer and Einar Tveito. It’s based on Oskar Braaten’s novel Bak høkerens disk and the play Godvakker-Maren. The movie stars Eva Sletto, Aasta Voss, and Pehr Qværnstrøm. Two young women from Hedmark go to Oslo to work at a small grocery store run by Nils Andresen. With his wife ill, Andresen becomes interested in his two new employees, and Maren faces temptations in the city before life settles down. The film runs 89 minutes, is in Norwegian, and was released on October 31, 1940. It was produced by Alf Sommer, with cinematography by Reidar Lund, editing by Titus Vibe-Müller, music by Adolf Kristoffer Nielsen, and distributed by Kommunenes filmcentral.
