Global Exchange of Military Information

Global Exchange of Military Information (GEMI) is an arms-control program run annually by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Under GEMI, participating states share information about all of their military forces worldwide, not just in Europe. The data covers:
- Location and size of the general staff
- Command organizations and chain of command, including locations and personnel strength
- Total authorized personnel in the armed forces
- Total holdings of weapon systems by category and subcategory, and their locations

The exchange takes place every April and uses holdings as of January 1. Russia continued submitting GEMI data after its 2014 invasion and annexation of Crimea.
