Giorgio Rubino (rugby)
Giorgio Rubino (born around 1925) is a former Italian rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s. He was a second-row forward, about 6 feet tall and 183 cm, weighing 79 kg (12 st 7 lb). At club level he played for Torino XIII, and he represented Italy internationally.
In 1950 Rubino captained Italy on a tour to France, England and Wales. The tour was organized by Vincenzo Bertolotto with help from Dennis Chappell. Italy played three matches in France, several in England (including a 28-49 loss to Wigan at Central Park on 26 August 1950 and a match at Huddersfield on 6 September 1950), and a match in Wales (an 11-29 defeat by South Wales XIII at Bridgend on 2 September 1950). After the tour, Torino XIII joined the French league.
