Giacomo Casanova: Childhood and Adolescence is a 1969 Italian comedy directed by Luigi Comencini. The Italian title is Infanzia, vocazione e prime esperienze di Giacomo Casanova, veneziano, and it was released abroad as Casanova: His Youthful Years. The film stars Leonard Whiting as Giacomo Casanova, with Lionel Stander and Maria Grazia Buccella. It runs 123 minutes and is in Italian. The story follows Casanova’s youth in Venice: a difficult childhood and early religious schooling. Although he is on track to become a priest, he falls in love with a countess and leaves the church to live a libertine life. The movie is more a colorful portrait of Venetian society of the time than a strict biography.
