Ghansor
Ghansor, often called Ghansaur or Kanhapaastown and nicknamed Apna Ghansor, is a small census town in Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh. It is the headquarters of the local Janpad panchayat and a Tehsil (block) in the district. The town has a railway station on the South Eastern Central Railway line that links Jabalpur and Balaghat, and it has good bus connections to Lakhnadon, Seoni, Jabalpur, and Mandla.
Geography and climate: Ghansor is located at about 22.65°N, 79.95°E, around 582 meters above sea level in central India. The area receives about 1,200–1,400 mm of rainfall each year and has a Cwa (monsoon-influenced) climate.
Administration and population: The sub-district covers about 1,096 square kilometres, mostly rural (about 1,091 km2) with a small urban area (5 km2). The sub-district population is around 142,000. The town itself had about 6,100 residents in 2001. The postal code is 480997, the area code is 07693, and vehicle registration is MP22.
Economy and services: Agriculture is the backbone of the local economy, with paddy, maize, wheat and soybean as major crops. Ghansor has a government community health centre and a network of public and private schools and colleges. Hindi is the official language.
People and culture: The area is home to Jains, Hindus, Muslims and Christians. Many residents belong to tribal communities with Gond cultural traditions and rich customs.
