George Hodges Knox (17 December 1885 – 11 July 1960) was an Australian politician, orchardist and soldier. The City of Knox in the Melbourne area is named after him.

He was born in Prahran, Melbourne, the son of William Knox, who had also been a politician. He went to Scotch College and worked as an electrical engineer before moving to Beaconsfield to start an orchard. He married Kathleen Purves MacPherson in 1909; they later divorced in 1919.

Knox joined the Citizen Military Forces in 1909 and served in the First World War, commanding the 23rd Battalion and fighting at Gallipoli and on the Western Front. He earned the Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG), the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration (VD) and was mentioned in despatches.

After the war he moved to Ferntree Gully in 1920 and married Ada Victoria Harris in 1921. He entered local politics, winning a seat on Fern Tree Gully Shire Council in 1923. In 1927 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Upper Yarra as a Nationalist.

Knox later belonged to the United Australia Party and then the Liberal Party. He served as Speaker of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1942 to 1947. From 1945 until his retirement in 1960 he was the member for Scoresby.

He was knighted and held other honours for his service. Knox died in Ferntree Gully in 1960 at the age of 74.
