Stjörnustrákur
Stjörnustrákur (Star Boy) is an Icelandic live-action children's miniseries that aired in December 1991 on the public TV channel Sjónvarpið. It is part of Jóladagatal Sjónvarpsins, Iceland’s Advent calendar series. The show was created by Sigrún Eldjárn and directed by Kári Halldór Þórsson. It has 24 episodes that were shown from December 1 to December 24, 1991.
The story follows Ísafold, a girl played by Kristjana Pálsdóttir, who meets Blámi, a boy from a distant star whose spaceship has broken down on Earth. A spare part is hidden in a treasure chest somewhere on Earth, and Ísafold helps Blámi search for it. An eccentric middle-aged woman overhears their quest and wants the treasure for herself. Both Ísafold and Blámi are played by adults in the series: Kristjana Pálsdóttir and Sigurþór Albert Heimisson, with Guðfinna Rúnarsdóttir as the old woman. Other cast members include Kristbjörg Kjeld, Árni Tryggvason and Ólafía Hrönn Jónsdóttir.
Stjörnustrákur was rerun on Sjónvarpið in December 1998 and December 2006. A children’s book by Sigrún Eldjárn with the same name and story was published in 1991, using production stills from the show.
Related works include Á baðkari til Betlehem (1990) and Tveir á báti (1992).
