Geoffrey of Paris
Geoffrey of Paris was a French chronicler who died around 1320. He is thought to have written the Chronique metrique de Philippe le Bel, a long 7,918‑verse history of France from 1300 to 1316, based on his firsthand knowledge of many events. Some shorter poems are also attributed to him, but details about his life and writings are uncertain. Between 1314 and 1318 he wrote several Latin and French dits, including Avisemens pour le roy Loys, Du roy Phelippe qui ores regne, De alliatis, and De la creation du pape Jehan. Most of his works focus on politics and were addressed to the French kings Louis X and Philippe V.
