Agyathuri

Agyathuri is a town in Kamrup district, Assam, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra near Guwahati. It lies on the Guwahati–Hajo road and has access to all major transport, including a railway junction. The place was once where Lachit Borphukan’s Momai-kata Garh stood to block the Mughal army before the Battle of Saraighat; the fort no longer exists, possibly merged into a road. A Saraighat Battle Memorial in Agyathuri commemorates the battle.
