Garhani
Garhani (Hindi: गड़हनी) is a town and the surrounding rural development block in Bhojpur district, Bihar, India. It is mainly rural with no major towns.
In 2011, the town had 5,597 people in 959 households, while the entire Garhani block had 103,262 people in 16,427 households.
The block’s sex ratio was 919 females for every 1,000 males, which is slightly higher than the state (918) and district (907). Among children aged 0–6, there were 923 females for every 1,000 males. Scheduled Castes made up about 17.6% of residents, and Scheduled Tribes about 0.03%.
Literacy was 66.77% overall (men 79.14%, women 53.3%), with a gender gap of about 26 percentage points. Most workers were involved in agriculture: 25.7% were cultivators who owned or leased land, and 54.2% were agricultural laborers who worked on others’ land. Another 3.13% worked in household industries, and 16.97% were other workers.
Garhani block comprises 51 villages. Official languages are Bhojpuri and Hindi, and the area follows Indian Standard Time.
