Gale Bishop
Robert Gale Bishop (June 4, 1922 – December 26, 2003) was an American basketball player. He was born in Sumas, Washington, and played college basketball at Washington State University from 1941–1943 and 1945–1946. A forward who wore number 11, he stood 6 feet 3 inches tall.
He played professionally from 1944 to 1949, starting with Fircrest Dairy in 1944 and the Bellingham Fricrests from 1946 to 1948, before joining the Philadelphia Warriors. In the 1948–49 BAA season, he appeared in 56 games for the Warriors.
Bishop earned several honors, including consensus first-team All-American in 1943 and two-time first-team All-PCC selections in 1943 and 1946. He died December 26, 2003, in Tacoma, Washington.
