GAS Gang
GAS Gang, also known as GAS or GG, was a Brixton-based street gang in south London that formed in the late 2000s at Angell Town Estate. Their territory stretched from Brixton Road up to Stockwell Park and included parts of Myatts Field and Loughborough Junction. They were involved in drug dealing, theft, money laundering and, at times, murder.
The gang had allies such as Murder Zone (MZ), Organised Crime (OC), Original Brooklyn Youths/Brooklyn Family Riders (OBY/BFR), and Roadside G's, and they clashed with rivals including ABM, DSN, GMG, PYG and TN1. GAS grew from the fragmentation of older Brixton gangs like PDC and Y28s, and early on used the colors green and purple. In 2009, CCTV footage showed GAS members clashing with PYG.
By 2012, GAS was seen as one of the most dangerous gangs in South London. Police and the council said they were responsible for a large share of youth violence in Brixton, and up to eight members were jailed for murder or attempted murder. The gang’s size varied over time: at times over 100 members, around 50 in 2012, and potentially hundreds in 2015 before leaders were jailed and the group weakened.
Key incidents included a 2010 murder linked to a rival gang, the 2011 murder of Zac Olumegbon for which five GAS members were jailed, and the 2012 attack that left Thusha Kamaleswaran paralyzed. In 2014, police raids targeted GAS as part of broader drug and gun crime investigations.
GAS later split into factions such as Rockblock 150 and Siru after leaders were jailed. Some members, like Sneakbo, became musicians. The Rockblock 150 faction helped shape the early UK drill scene.
