Paadha Kaanikkai
Paadha Kaanikkai, meaning Offering to the Feet, is a 1962 Tamil drama directed by K. Shankar and written by M. S. Solamalai. The film stars Gemini Ganesan and Savitri in the lead, with C. R. Vijayakumari, M. R. Radha, and Kamal Haasan in supporting roles. It was produced by G. N. Velumani, with music by Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy and lyrics by Kannadasan. The song "Poojaikku Vandha" is set in the Bhimpalasi raga. Paadha Kaanikkai was released on 14 July 1962 and runs for about 158 minutes.
Reception was mixed to negative. The Indian Express criticized the film as dull with a hard-to-find meaning, faulting the story and direction, though the cast was said to give their best. Kalki also gave a negative review but praised some performances. Historian Randor Guy notes the film failed commercially due to its predictable storyline and theatrical look.
