Furniture Manufacturing Eco Museum in Tainan

Established: May 2005. Location: Rende District, Tainan, Taiwan. Owner: Yung Shing Furniture Co., Ltd.

The Furniture Manufacturing Eco Museum in Tainan (Chinese name: 家具產業生態博物館) is housed in a building that was previously the Yongxing Furniture factory, built in 1958. After the factory moved production to Mainland China, the building was converted into a museum. Renovation took three years, and the museum opened in May 2005. The building reflects the 1960s–1970s Taiwanese residential style. The museum presents the history and evolution of Taiwan’s furniture industry and displays classic wooden furniture from Taiwan and other countries. It is within a short walk southwest of Bao’an Station on the Taiwan Railways.
