Friends in Bellwoods II
Friends in Bellwoods II is a 2009 compilation album by various Toronto indie artists, released by Out of This Spark to benefit the Daily Bread Food Bank. It’s the follow-up to the 2007 album Friends in Bellwoods. The project connects to the Trinity-Bellwoods home of Ohbijou’s Casey Mecija, and its recording and release came as Mecija had to move out due to a toxic mold infestation. By the time of the second album’s release, several artists from the first album—such as Ohbijou, The Acorn, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Timber Timbre, Basia Bulat, and Great Lake Swimmers—had begun to gain national or international recognition, showing the shift from a local Toronto scene to wider success.
