Fred Tuck
Henry George Frederick Tuck (16 October 1915 – January 1993) was an English motorcycle speedway rider from Leyton, London. He began racing in 1935 with Wembley Lions reserves and Plymouth Panthers, becoming a regular for Plymouth in 1936. In 1937 he was allocated to Nottingham and helped win the Provincial Trophy. He rode for Leeds Lions in 1938, and in 1939 started with Stoke Potters but moved to Belle Vue Aces reserves after Stoke withdrew. In 1943 he won the All English Best Pairs Championship with Eric Chitty. After World War II, he rode for Odsal Boomerangs (1946–1947) and then Bristol Bulldogs (1947–1950). At Bristol he topped the team averages and was the league’s top rider in 1948 with a 10.20 average, helping Bristol win the 1948 Division Two title and the 1949 league and National Trophy double. His honours include the 1948 highest league average; 1937 Provincial Trophy and Provincial League Coronation Cup; and the 1948/1949 league titles and 1949 National Trophy.
