Sipura Technology, Inc. was a San Jose, California-based VoIP startup founded in 2003, alongside its sister companies VideoCore and Komodo Technology. It produced VoIP devices like the SPA2100, SPA3000, and SPA9000 adapters, as well as the SPA941 IP phone. On April 26, 2005, Cisco Systems acquired Sipura for its Linksys division. Sipura products then appeared under the Linksys brand, and Cisco kept the Sipura rights, later selling the SPA series as Cisco Small Business after Linksys was sold. In 2016, Cisco released the 7800 and 8800 series IP phones and used updated Sipura firmware for some 3PCC models.
