Libya won the football tournament at the Islamic Games. The event took place in Izmir, Turkey, from 28 September to 5 October 1980. Five teams from three confederations competed in a round-robin format (no final). Libya finished first, Turkey second, Saudi Arabia third, and Northern Cyprus fourth. Ten matches were played and 27 goals were scored in total (about 2.7 per match). The top scorer was Tuncay Soyak with 3 goals.
