First Brotherhood (Albanian: Vëllazëria e parë) was the first Albanian society in Egypt, founded in 1875. Its leader was Thimi Mitko, and its members were Albanians living in Egypt. The group aimed to protect Albanian culture in the diaspora and to support the Albanian National Awakening, which sought an independent Albanian state outside the Ottoman Empire. Information about the society is limited, but historians see its founding as a sign of the community’s growing strength in Egypt and its desire to contribute to Albania’s national project. It was the first Albanian organization in Egypt and was followed by the Albanian Brotherhood in 1895.
