Fine Living (Canadian TV channel)
Fine Living was a Canadian pay TV channel owned by CW Media (68.24% and managing partner), Scripps Networks Interactive (19.76%), and Corus Entertainment (12% and minority partner). It operated nationwide from Toronto, Ontario.
The channel launched on September 3, 2004 and shut down on October 19, 2009, with most providers replacing it with the DIY Network. Fine Living’s programming focused on five areas: Design & Décor, Everyday Living, Favourite Things, Food & Drink, and Travel & Adventure.
Licensing and history: In 2000, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission licensed the service as The Luxe Network to Alliance Atlantis. The licence was extended to November 24, 2004, by which time Scripps had bought a minority stake and the channel launched as Fine Living. On January 18, 2008, Canwest and GS Capital Partners bought Alliance Atlantis, including Alliance Atlantis’ stake in Fine Living. In June 2009, Canwest announced plans to shut down Fine Living and replace it with a Canadian DIY Network. The channel ceased operations on October 19, 2009, with the DIY Network launch. The channel will become Magnolia Network on March 28, 2022.
