Feel My Mind
Feel My Mind (styled as feel my mind) is the third studio album by Japanese singer Koda Kumi, released on February 18, 2004. It mixes pop and R&B and lasts about 1 hour and 2 minutes. The album was produced by Max Matsuura and released by Rhythm Zone. It came after Grow into One (2003) and before Secret (2005).
Singles from the album were:
- Come With Me (August 27, 2003)
- Gentle Words (December 10, 2003)
- Crazy 4 U (January 15, 2004)
- Love & Honey (May 26, 2004)
Feel My Mind reached number 7 on Japan’s Oricon chart, stayed on the charts for 35 weeks, and sold over 147,000 copies. A companion DVD, also titled Feel..., was released on the same day (not to be confused with Kumi’s 2006 single Feel). This was her last CD-only album; later releases included CD+DVD versions.
Musically, the album marked the last period when Kumi focused mainly on R&B, as she began moving toward pop in her next album, Secret. The era helped establish her ero-kawaii/ sexy-cute image, which she continued to develop after the album’s release. She has said she was nervous about this image because she didn’t want to disappoint her parents, but finding her own style helped her grow as an artist.
Limited editions included bonus tracks: a remix of Yume with You and Cutie Honey (the latter later released as a single). Yume with You is a cover of Toshinobu Kubota’s 1993 song. The track magic was written by Lisa, a female R&B artist and producer who had previously worked with Kumi.
The Feel My Mind DVD features three music videos from the era, plus an interview, extra photos, and the original TV commercials for the singles.
