Federal University of Goiás (Universidade Federal de Goiás, UFG) is a public university in Goiás, Brazil. Its main campus is in Goiânia, with campuses in Catalão, Cidade de Goiás, and Jataí. It was founded on December 14, 1960, from the merger of several colleges. It is the only federally funded higher education institution in Goiás. UFG has about 28,899 students enrolled in around 150 undergraduate programs and also offers graduate studies. In a national study, it is ranked as the second-best university in the Central-West region after the University of Brasília. The university also manages the 144-hectare Professor José Ângelo Rizzo Biological Reserve, a strictly protected area created in 1969 near Mossâmedes.
