Faroe Islands Women's Volleyball League
The Faroese Women’s Volleyball League is the top league for women’s volleyball in the Faroe Islands. It has been played since 1969 and now features six teams. The league runs in three divisions—Premier League, Division 1 and Division 2—and is organized by the Faroese Volleyball Union. The 2022–23 season is the current one.
The country also has domestic cups, the Faroese Cup and the Faroese Super Cup. Faroese teams may compete in European competitions such as the CEV Champions League, CEV Cup and CEV Challenge Cup.
In the 2021/22 season the Premier League used a two-stage format: a preliminary round with three rounds, then a final between the top two teams. The final was a two-match series, with a golden set if the teams were tied. The league uses a points system: 3 points for a 3–0 or 3–1 win, 2 points for a 3–2 win, 1 point for a 2–3 defeat, and 0 points for a 0–3 or 1–3 defeat.
Six teams took part in 2021/22: Flair from Tórshavn, SI from Sørvágur, Drottur from Miðvágur, KÍF from Kollafjørður, TB from Tvøroyri, and Mjölnir from Klaksvík. Flair won the championship after beating SI in the final series, with the deciding golden set finishing 15–12. Drottur finished third.
