İhsan Sabri Çağlayangil
İhsan Sabri Çağlayangil (1 January 1908 – 30 December 1993) was a Turkish lawyer, diplomat and politician who briefly served as Acting President of Turkey in 1980. Born in Istanbul, he studied law at Istanbul University and began his career as a civil servant, helping with the trial of Seyit Riza and with the Dersim rebellion’s Kurdish leaders. He later held provincial governorships in Yozgat (1948), Çanakkale (1953), Sivas (1954) and Bursa (1954–1960). A member of the Justice Party, Çağlayangil served as Minister of Labour in 1965, then as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1965 to 1971, and again from 1975 to 1977 and 1977 to 1978. He was President of the Turkish Senate from 1979 to 1980 and, after the 1980 coup, was Acting President of Turkey from April 6 to September 12, 1980. He died in Ankara in 1993 and is buried at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery in Istanbul. He was married to Emine Furuzende Çağlayangil and had a daughter, Fatma Itır Çağlayangil. He studied at Istanbul High School and Istanbul University and was of Circassian descent. His political affiliations included the Justice Party (1961–1980) and the True Path Party (1987–1993).
