Faridah Basta Sohair, born 4 April 1957, is an Egyptian chess player. She earned the title of Woman International Master (WIM) in 1993. In 2005 she won a silver medal at the African Women's Chess Championship in Lusaka, which qualified her to participate in the Women's World Chess Championship. In 2006 she played in the Women's World Chess Championship knockout tournament and lost in the first round to Pia Cramling. In 2007 she finished 6th in the African Women's Championship in Windhoek. That year she also played for Egypt in the All-Africa Games chess tournament, where the team finished 5th. She has represented Egypt in the Women's Chess Olympiads. Her peak rating was 2083 in October 2004.
