Fan-bearer on the Right Side of the King
Fan-bearer on the Right Side of the King (also called Fanbearer on the King's Right Hand) was an ancient Egyptian court title. It signified a close personal or official relationship with the pharaoh. In the times of Amenhotep II and Tuthmosis IV, the job was held by important officials such as the viceroy of Kush, the king’s chief steward, and tutors like Sennedjem who served Tutankhamun. In wall scenes, fan-bearers are shown holding a long fan with a single feather. Another notable holder of the title was Maiherpri, who was buried in the Valley of the Kings.
