Faisal Matloub
Faisal Matloub Fathi (born 1948) is a former Iraqi weightlifter. He competed in the men's featherweight division, weighing about 60 kg (130 lb). He took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow and finished ninth. He was a member of the Iraqi Armed Forces and held the titles of Champion of Iraq and Champion of the Armed Forces for 15 years. In 1972 he won international competitions in Poland and Germany, and he finished fourth at the World Mini Championship in the Soviet Union. He was Arab Games champion from 1974 to 1976 and won the World Military Championship in Baghdad in 1976. Faisal Matloub is regarded as a pioneer of weightlifting in Iraq.
