Evergestis frumentalis
Evergestis frumentalis
Evergestis frumentalis is a moth in the Crambidae family. It lives from the Iberian Peninsula and southern and central Europe to southern Fennoscandia, then reaches central Asia and southern Siberia. It was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1761. The wingspan is about 29–35 mm. There are two generations each year, with adults flying in April and August. The caterpillars feed on plants in the mustard family, including Descourainia sophia, several Sisymbrium and Sinapis species (such as Sinapis arvensis), and Isatis species (including Isatis tinctoria). The second-generation larvae overwinter in a cocoon in the soil.
