Edwin Hall (trade unionist)
Edwin Hall, known as Teddy Hall (24 September 1895 – 9 July 1961), was a British trade unionist. He was born at Hindley Green near Wigan and started work in a colliery at age 13, joining the Lancashire and Cheshire Miners' Federation (LCMF). He quickly rose to roles such as secretary of his local lodge, checkweighman, and the union’s agent for the St Helens area. In 1942 he became vice-president of the LCMF and, in 1944, its president. In 1945 the union became the Lancashire Area of the National Union of Mineworkers, with Hall as general secretary. He served on national and international committees and joined the General Council of the Trades Union Congress in 1954. He was also secretary of the Leigh and District Trades Council. He retired in 1960 at age 65 and died in 1961.
