Eastern Youth is a Japanese punk rock trio formed in 1986 in Sapporo, Hokkaidō. They began as Scanners from 1986 to 1988 and are known for mixing many styles, including punk, post-hardcore, emo, and indie rock, which makes their sound feel big for a three‑piece band. The founding members are Hisashi Yoshino and Atsuya Tamori, with Yuka Muraoka joining later; past members include Tohru Mitsuhashi, Tomokazu Ninomiya, and Taketomo Sasai.

The band moved to Tokyo in 1990. In 1995 they released their first record on the Sakamoto Shōten label, Kuchibue Yofuke ni Hibiku (A Whistle Rings Late At Night). Over the years they issued three albums and one single and appeared on several compilation albums. They were one of Japan’s top Oi/skinhead acts from 1989 to 1993 before shedding that image.

By 2000 they had become influential in the Japanese indie rock scene and began touring the United States. They played with At The Drive-In in 2000, Jimmy Eat World in 2001, and Cursive in 2006, and they released the 2002 EP 8 Teeth to Eat You with Cursive. In 2015, Tomokazu Ninomiya left the band and was replaced by Yuka Muraoka.
