Emma Ruggiero
Emma Ruggiero (born April 12, 1997) is an American ice hockey forward for the Buffalo Beauts in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). She is from Amherst, New York, stands 5 feet 1 inch tall, and shoots left.
In high school, she played for the Buffalo Regals. She then attended Buffalo State College from 2015 to 2019, scoring 52 points in 100 NCAA Division III games and serving as team captain in her senior year.
In August 2019, she signed with the Buffalo Beauts after trying out at their free agent camp. She made her pro debut on November 23, 2019, against the Minnesota Whitecaps. Her rookie season ended with 1 assist in 10 games. She received the 2020 NWHL Foundation Award.
Ruggiero is known for her speed and tenacious forechecking. She was described as “a spitfire on skates” who barrels into corners. During the 2019–20 season, she also coached in the Western New York Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey Federation.
Her sister Abby Ruggiero plays hockey for the Cornell Big Red.
