East Bengal Football Club, based in Kolkata, is one of India’s oldest and most successful football clubs. It has a long history of competing abroad, winning trophies on foreign soil and testing itself against Asia’s best.

Formation and early years
- East Bengal was formed on August 1, 1920, after a split from Jorabagan. It quickly rose in Indian football.
