Camila Alves
Camila Alves McConaughey is a Brazilian-American model and designer. She is married to actor Matthew McConaughey and they have three children.
She was born on January 28, 1983, in Itambacuri, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She grew up there with a mother who is an artist and designer and a father who owned a ranch. At 15, Camila moved to Los Angeles, worked as a house cleaner and waitress, and learned English. She later moved to New York City at 20 to pursue modeling.
Camila has appeared on the covers of magazines such as Ocean Drive, Maxim, Town & Country, People, and Bella. She has walked runways for designers like Valentino and Carolina Herrera and helped design the Muxo line of handbags with her mother.
She has hosted the TV show Shear Genius and became the face of Macy’s INC brand in 2012. In 2016, she launched a lifestyle website called Women of Today. She also co-owns Yummy Spoonfuls, an organic baby food company, and co-hosted the Kids BBQ Championship in 2016. Her children’s book Just Try One Bite, co-written with Adam Mansbach, was published in 2022 and became a New York Times bestseller.
Camila met Matthew McConaughey in 2006 and they married in 2012 in Austin, Texas. They have a son born in 2008, a daughter born in 2010, and another son born in 2012. She became a U.S. citizen in 2015.
Together with Matthew, she started the Just Keep Livin’ Foundation in 2010. The couple worked with Veronica Beard in 2019, and in 2020 they donated more than 100,000 face masks to Texas hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic.
