Intuit Inc. is an American software company that makes financial software for individuals and small businesses. Based in Mountain View, California, it was founded in 1983 in Palo Alto by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx. Today, under CEO Sasan Goodarzi, Intuit sells TurboTax (tax preparation), QuickBooks (small‑business accounting), Credit Karma (credit monitoring and personal finance), and Mailchimp (email marketing). The company operates mainly in the United States but also has development and support teams in Canada and India. Intuit is publicly traded on NASDAQ as INTU and is part of the Nasdaq-100, S&P 100 and S&P 500 indices. As of 2025, Intuit reported about $18.8 billion in revenue, $4.92 billion in operating income, $3.87 billion in net income, around $36.9 billion in assets and $19.7 billion in equity, and it employed about 18,200 people.

Intuit has grown through major acquisitions and product expansions. It bought Mint.com in 2009 to add personal finance tools, and later expanded with Credit Karma in 2020 and Mailchimp in 2021. In 2024, Intuit integrated Mint’s functions into Credit Karma and retired Mint. The company also announced significant layoffs in 2024, eliminating about 1,800 jobs to focus more on generative AI initiatives.

The company has faced regulatory and legal scrutiny over its advertising practices related to free tax filing. In 2022, Intuit agreed to a $141 million settlement with the FTC over misleading advertisements. Intuit’s global presence includes its Intuit India and Intuit Canada subsidiaries, with operations and development in those regions alongside its U.S. business.
