Donovan Patton
Donovan Patton, born March 1, 1978, in Guam, is an American actor and television host. He grew up with a military family, lived in Colorado and Las Vegas after his parents’ divorce, and studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy, graduating in 1996. He started his acting career in Shakespeare plays before breaking into television.
Patton’s big break came in 2002 when he replaced Steve Burns as Joe on Blue's Clues. Producers say Joe felt closer to preschool viewers because he would jump into problems. He also starred in the spin-off Blue's Room (2004–2007) and, with Burns, returned for the 2019 reboot Blue's Clues & You! (2019–2024), including a reunion in the first episode and later appearances; they also co-starred in Blue's Big City Adventure (2022).
Beyond Blue's Clues, Patton voices Bot on Team Umizoomi (since 2006) and CatRat on Gabby’s Dollhouse. He has appeared in independent films and on TV shows like Blue Bloods, Nurse Jackie, and Damages, and has contributed voice work to several video games, including Grand Theft Auto V, Lego Jurassic World, Halo 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War.
Patton is married to Jackie, and they have two children; they live in Los Angeles. He supports charities such as Literacy Inc., Make-a-Wish, and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
