Donald Hugh Sinnott is an Australian engineer and academic known for his work in radar and applied electromagnetics. He specializes in radar systems, antennas, radio propagation, signal processing, and GPS technology. Sinnott played a leading role in developing Australia’s Jindalee over-the-horizon radar system. He earned his PhD from Syracuse University in 1972 under Roger F. Harrington.

For many years, he worked at the Defence Science and Technology Group (DST), advising the Australian Department of Defence and later taking on senior defence-management roles. He led several DST divisions in sensing and IT (1987–2000), served as the Department of Defence’s First Assistant Secretary Science Policy (1995–1997), and was CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre for Sensor Signal and Information Processing, as well as chairman of the CRC’s spin-off companies (2000–2003). He is currently a board member of CRC CARE and an adjunct professor at the University of Adelaide. Sinnott is a fellow of Engineers Australia and IEEE. In 2014, he received the M. A. Sargent Medal for eminence and leadership in his field. He authored Radar Men: A. P. Rowe and John Strath in War and Peace (2016).
