Dime Community Bank
Dime Community Bank is a public, FDIC‑insured bank based in Hauppauge, New York. It began in 1864 as the Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to serve immigrant and low‑income communities. The bank moved its headquarters to Brooklyn Heights in 2017 and, in 2021, merged with Bridge Bancorp Inc., creating Dime Community Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: DCOM). The bank’s headquarters are now in Hauppauge.
Dime Community Bank operates 60+ branches across the New York metropolitan area, including Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. It focuses on commercial and business banking and became an SBA lender in 2017. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dime Community Bancshares, Inc.
Key figures include about $12.3 billion in assets, roughly $104 million in net income, about $1.14 billion in total equity, and more than 800 employees. The bank expanded through acquisitions in the 1990s, including Conestoga Bancorp and Pioneer Savings Bank in 1996 and Financial Bancorp in 1999.
