Derwent Park is a small residential area in the Glenorchy part of the Hobart region in Tasmania. It sits about 2 kilometers east of Glenorchy and had 872 residents at the 2021 census. The area is mainly light industry and commercial activity, with a history of manufacturing.

Derwent Park was officially named as a locality in 1961, and its name comes from a nearby property dating back to around 1820. It has long been part of Tasmania’s manufacturing scene, hosting factories such as the Small Arms Ammunition Factory, Sanitarium Health Foods, and Sheridan, a bedding and textiles maker. Today it remains an industrial hub, with Incat operating at nearby Prince of Wales Bay. Incat is known for building fast ferries and naval vessels.

Other important industries in the area include advanced manufacturing, food processing, and logistics, which continue to provide jobs. Nearby Risdon Zinc Works (Nyrstar Hobart) at Lutana has operated since 1917 and has contributed to heavy metal pollutants affecting air, land, and the nearby waters.

In 2018, a report highlighted Hobart as one of Australia’s more polluted cities. It noted moderate air pollution in the 7009 postcode area (Derwent Park, Lutana, Moonah, West Moonah) and in 7010 (Glenorchy, Rosetta, Montrose, Goodwood, Dowsing Point), with levels of NOx and SO2 contributing to the air quality concerns.

The Derwent River and Prince of Wales Bay form the northern boundary of the area. The Brooker Highway (National Route 1) runs through Derwent Park.
