Jenny Graham
Jenny Graham, born in 1979 or 1980, is a Scottish endurance cyclist from Inverness. In 2018 she became the fastest woman to cycle solo and unsupported around the world. She rode about 18,000 miles across four continents in 124 days, 10 hours and 50 minutes. Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement in 2019. In 2024 Lael Wilcox, who rode with support, beat Graham’s time by 16 days.
Graham is part of the Adventure Syndicate and a member of Cycling UK. She began cycling in 2004 and was drawn to ultra-distance racing while planning a bike trip to Romania after discovering the Highland Trail 550. She lives with her son in the Bught area of Inverness.
In 2017 she received an Adventure Syndicate training bursary and met coach John Hampshire, who trained her for free for a year. After that, she rode the 750-mile Arizona Trail Race and finished sixth. With the Adventure Syndicate, she rode Land’s End to John o’Groats in four days over New Year, riding about 20 hours a day, mostly in the dark, a race she called brutal.
Her 2018 world circumnavigation was undertaken unsupported, with all gear carried. The route went through 15 countries and included four flights and a boat. After 23 days, she had ridden about 5,126 miles and crossed into Mongolia from Russia; at the halfway point she reached Australia, and by late August she was in the Yukon Territory, having completed about 12,000 miles. Her custom bike was donated by Shand Cycles in Livingston, with a steel frame to handle diverse roads. Sponsors included Apidura and Unitas Global, along with many local supporters.
Graham arrived in Berlin on October 18, 2018, completing the journey in 124 days, 10 hours and 50 minutes.
